Directions
Forward. Of all the directions in life, it often carries the biggest challenge. Moving forward is often not an easy thing to do. In the grand scheme of things, the way I see it there are 4 things a person can do with their life at any given time. Stand still, Side step, Move backwards, or Push forwards. As the name implies, standing still is just that. you don’t move. You stay where you are and let life and the world move around you. Usually set in a routine that is repeated

Do the Work
My therapist has mentioned more than once that I make his job too easy. He asks if he's helping. He is, but I've done a lot of the work that got me to this stage already. It's not just my bachelor's in psychology, it's not just my curiosity. It was my willingness to change and do the work and accept the help and support of those I love and who love me. I talked to the docs, I got the meds, I changed the meds, I've read the books and browsed the internet for help. Now I'm in t

Chick, Version 2
It’s been just over 4 months since my husband passed away from Alzheimer’s and I’ve been in the process of figuring out who I am now and how I move forward in what has become a different world for me. It’s been a wild ride so far, and I expect there’s a whole lot more to come. Some of it has come naturally, some of it comes with healing activities, but most of it comes flying out of nowhere as I experience this new world of mine. It’s been a couple years since I adopted my t

“What, When, Where, Why, How?”
While looking forward and working on the future of Clearview Works, both the near and distant, phrase like “How are we….” comes to mind and out of our mouths along with a number of other question phrases. How do we plan for this? Where do we go after that? Where is the next stop? What takes priority? Planning is sometimes an easy thing, sometimes it’s the opposite. Some answers flow as if they write themselves as soon as the questions comes to mind. Others you feel like you h

The Rest of the Story…
My last post was about the world-record-setting-ride that I participated in last weekend. Just in case you didn’t see it, 1433 women motorcyclists riding together in a group. It was the ultimate high to be a part of that. But there’s so much more. This was the first time I undertook a long ride on my own. I’ve done a lot of weekend and week-long rides with friends and my husband for the last 45 years. I’ve done a lot of business travel on my own in my career as well. This

Farm 2 Down
Back home from doing our second farm. Things were vastly different. Values. Beliefs. Convictions. Household. I very much enjoy working on the farms. Learning hands on is one of the best ways for me to learn. The families, communities and environments are so vastly different. I can see that already just with 2 farms under my belt. Been welcomed into homes of some of the hardest working Americans I have ever met. I enjoy the different cultures and the people I am meeting. So mu

History Was Made Today
And I am so honored and grateful to have been a part of it. I’ve spent the last three days at GYGO2026 (a gathering of women motorcyclists named Get Your Groove On). This was an amazing event put on by the Midwest Women Riders NFP. The culmination of the event was an attempt to break the world record for the most women riders on the road together previously held by Australia. The women showed up. We broke the record and it was verified by Atlas. We had 1433 women riding

Unexpected Changes
Life has an interesting way of directing you in ways you hadn’t planned on going. One minute you think you have a plan figured out, then suddenly something happens and POOF, you’re doing an unexpected left turn and headed in a new direction. As we plan for the future of Clearview Works, “Chick and Alice”, and the 50 state ride, we have experienced this more than people can imagine. Pivoting on plans, ideas, and what direction to go is something that has happened a lot as we c

Whimsy
I taught a wire wrapping class tonight at work today. Wire wrapping is when you take crafting wire and manipulate it into a shape to make jewelry and decorations and other kinds of art. You often see it with stones. It's a beautiful craft and I had fun learning about it and sharing it with other people. In my class we formed wire into words, using other wire and beads to create small pieces of art. I design my classes to be fairly open in terms of design options. I want to se

Tripp
I guess it’s time to come out. I’ve been riding motorcycles since 1980. I’ve had many different bikes in that time. Never...have I ever…named a single one of them, including the one I’m currently riding. I learned on and initially rode for awhile a 1972 Triumph Bonneville that belonged to my second husband. Kick start, shift on right side, brake on left. I didn’t ride it a lot because it was fraught with electrical problems, typical of that model and era. It seemed I ten

Naughty Love Letter to Scarlett
Dear Scarlett, I have only had the pleasure of knowing you for a few short months. I wasn’t exactly impressed with your Heritage or your color combination when I walked past you. Knowing where you claim to come from but I have had my hands on your kind before. I know better. There is a little bit of everyone in your Heritage. Yet, the man trying to find me the perfect suitor was failing miserably. Wasn’t pleased with any of the suitors. Like Goldie Locks in the woods. Somethi

REALLY?
What’s with all the questions and doubt? It seems everyone has an opinion and judgments are flying in from all corners. Quite frankly, I am getting really tired of it. Ok, this is going to be a rant…hopefully I get to something constructive by the end of this post. I am emerging from my own personal hell of the last four years and it seems that others have taken on a vested interest in how I’m supposed to do that. Yes, I’m struggling to regain myself in almost every way. Ye

Where to go from here?
Pivots galore. Yeee Ha! Lately all I can ask myself is what the hell am I so fucking scared of? What the hell is everyone else so scared of? I have 41 years under my belt of my “friend circle” being small and my haters club massive I even thought to fund my trip by making my own haters club and selling merch that I’m sure a certain mentality would purchase by the masses. The Suits and ties teach us hate and war is highly profitable and well love doesn’t sell. *Shrugs… not all
