Unexpected Changes

Life has an interesting way of directing you in ways you hadn’t planned on going. One minute you think you have a plan figured out, then suddenly something happens and POOF, you’re doing an unexpected left turn and headed in a new direction. As we plan for the future of Clearview Works, “Chick and Alice”, and the 50 state ride, we have experienced this more than people can imagine.

Pivoting on plans, ideas, and what direction to go is something that has happened a lot as we continue to move forward with everything we do. Routes for the ride, layouts and systems for the greenhouse, the retreat center, the plan for all of it. At some point we have pivoted, adapted, changed, or scrapped and started over. Some may say that seems crazy, others that it’s just the normal part of how a new business gets going. It’s not just that we pivot, it’s often WHY we pivot. Some are gut feelings, others are triggers of what someone said that pull up part of us we didn’t know was there. Even some are signs from the universe that what you have will work, but what if you went this direction with it? Then there are the random encounters with people. Just out of the blue some one stops and says something that you wouldn’t have even thought about and suddenly your brain is off and running because it triggered the idea for a dozen different things you hadn’t even considered.

As time has gone on there are plans being made, ideas jotted down and we feel we are getting things figured out when suddenly something either pops into someone’s head, something is said that triggers the brain to start Rewiring, or an outside force pulls in a direction that wasn’t even thought of. All of which, in many ways, have lead us down a path of being more authentic, true to ourselves, the vision, and the mission. Each change has its challenges, but we have adapted and over come them, working hard to ensure we move forward. Some of the changes are small, like a different wording on something, others are a total bulldoze and start over.

Much like life, the changes are going to happen. Handling them and taking a step back to try and understand why they are happening is a big part. Sometimes you need to sit with it for a bit to get it, but eventually it becomes clear and you can see why the universe has put this in front of you. I am proud of the team and how easily we all adapt and pivot to the ever changing landscape of not only Clearview Works, but of our lives and the world around us. Change happens, it’s inevitable, but do you let it break you, or do you use it to build better? That, my friends, is up to you to decide.
