Well, That Was One Hell of a Chapter!

Chick & Alice Adventures - Closing Out Phase One
Well, folks, if you’ve been following us for any length of time, you already know that Chick & Alice Adventures has been a little bit of everything.
A little motorcycle riding. A little traveling. A whole lot of personal growth. Some questionable shenanigans. And enough trials and tribulations to make a soap opera writer throw their hands up and say, “Oh, for fuck’s sake!”
And yet, here we are!
Still standing. Still laughing. Still learning. And somehow, still finding new ways to complicate what was supposed to be a simple motorcycle ride across all 50 states.
Go figure!
When we first started writing our blogs, we opened the doors to our personal lives. And boy, did we open them!
We talked about grief, trauma, abuse, family, relationships, loss, accountability, healing, and all those lovely uncomfortable emotions that most people would rather shove into a closet and pretend don’t exist.
We didn’t just write about the pretty parts of life.
We wrote about the ugly ones, too.
The anger. The heartbreak. The confusion. The moments when you realize that healing doesn’t come with a graduation certificate and a little gold star that says, “Congratulations, you’re all better!”
Wouldn’t that be fucking convenient?
Instead, we learned to sit with those emotions. To examine them. To question ourselves. To recognize patterns. To take accountability where accountability was due.
And sometimes, to admit that we didn’t have a damn clue what we were doing.
Imagine that!
But that’s the beauty of growth. You don’t have to have all the answers to keep moving forward.
And now, after all that digging, reflecting, crying, laughing, and occasionally wanting to throw our hands in the air, we’ve reached a turning point.
It’s time to close Phase One.
Not because our stories no longer matter.
Not because we’ve magically healed from everything life has thrown at us.
But because we’ve spent enough time introducing you to the people behind the adventure.
Now it’s time to show you the adventure itself.
So, What the Hell Happens Now?
Starting November 1, Chick & Alice Adventures is getting a makeover!
And no, we’re not talking about a new hairdo, although with us, you never really know.
We’re talking about the entire direction of our content.
Our personal lives will no longer be the centerpiece of our blogs.
Instead, we’re turning our attention outward.
The motorcycles. The road. The farms. The communities. The history. The national parks. The people we meet. The things we learn. The unexpected discoveries. And, naturally, whatever ridiculous situations we manage to get ourselves into along the way.
Because let’s face it, putting two strong-willed women from different generations together on a 50-state adventure is practically begging for entertainment.
Two Women. Two Perspectives. One Hell of a Ride.
Our Monday and Wednesday blogs are staying, but they’re getting a new purpose.
Mondays belong to Chick. Wednesdays belong to Alice.
Each week, we’ll explore the same selected topic, but we’ll write from our own individual perspectives.
Same subject. Different experiences. Different generations. Different ways of looking at the world.
And no, we aren’t required to agree with each other.
Where’s the fun in that?
You might get history, motorcycle culture, travel education, farming, environmental discoveries, or something neither of us knew a damn thing about until we started researching it.
The point is to learn something new, share what we discover, and maybe challenge a few assumptions along the way.
We’re also keeping our Tuesday Updates, where we’ll share preparations, changes, milestones, and the occasional logistical headache as we get closer to departure.
Thursday Music will continue bringing you a little soundtrack to the madness, because what’s an adventure without music?
And don’t worry, we’re not throwing the shenanigans out with the bathwater!
We’ll still have room for the fun, the laughter, and the unpredictable moments that make this journey ours.
Our Friday book discussions are transitioning over to the Clearview Works Facebook page, where they’ll fit into the organization’s growing educational direction.
So, yes, things are changing.
But we’re not becoming boring.
Good luck with that!
Wait a Minute. What About Clearview Works?
Glad you asked!
Clearview Works and Chick & Alice Adventures have shared a home for quite some time.
But as both continue to grow, it’s time for each to have its own space and responsibilities.
Clearview Works will be focusing on its nonprofit mission, education, research, accountability, healing, and exploring ways to interrupt cycles of harm.
There are website changes coming, organizational developments underway, and plenty of groundwork being laid for future programs and partnerships.
Chick & Alice Adventures, meanwhile, is going to be exactly what its name suggests.
An adventure!
Those of you following us through Clearview Works can expect an invitation to join our separate Chick & Alice Adventures Facebook page.
You’re more than welcome to follow both. Just know that each page will have a different focus moving forward.
And while we’re making these changes, we’re also preparing for a pretty significant shift in how this whole ride is going to work.
Plot Twist! Alice Gets the Motorcycle. Chick Gets the Follow Vehicle.
Yep! You read that correctly.
As our plans have evolved, so have our responsibilities.
Alice will be riding her motorcycle through all 50 states, while Chick takes on the follow-vehicle role with the truck and trailer.
It’s a change from our original vision, but one that allows us to continue the adventure while adapting to the realities of the road.
Alice will also be participating in WWOOF farm experiences, getting her hands dirty, learning from farmers, and exploring different agricultural practices.
Chick will be supporting the journey from the follow vehicle, participating in community experiences, helping coordinate activities, and contributing her own observations and discoveries.
Same adventure. Different responsibilities.
And probably a whole new collection of things to argue and laugh about.
We’re also expanding our interests beyond simply checking states off a map.
We want to learn about the communities we travel through. Their histories, industries, challenges, cultures, environments, and the people who call them home.
From water and land concerns to national parks, agriculture, working communities, and the systems that shape people’s lives, there’s a lot more to this country than what you can see from the interstate.
We intend to get out there and experience as much of it as we can.
May 2027 Is Coming, Whether We’re Ready or Not!
April 30th, 2027, marks the beginning of our planned departure festivities, with the ride officially getting underway May 1st.
And between now and then?
Holy shit, do we have some work to do!
Routes to finalize. Equipment to prepare. Logistics to organize. Websites to update. Content to develop. Connections to make. And about a thousand little details that nobody thinks about until they suddenly become a problem.
But that’s part of the adventure, isn’t it?
Learning to adapt.
Learning when to change direction.
Learning that sometimes the original plan was just the rough draft.
So, Here’s to Phase One!
To the personal stories.
To the difficult conversations.
To the lessons we didn’t necessarily want but needed to examine.
To the laughter that carried us through some pretty dark moments.
And to everyone who followed along, whether you agreed with us, disagreed with us, laughed with us, or occasionally wondered what in the hell we were thinking.
Thank you for being part of it.
We’ve spent a lot of time looking backward, understanding where we’ve been and how we got here.
Now we’re shifting our attention toward what’s in front of us.
Phase One was about the people behind the journey.
Phase Two is about the world waiting beyond them.
We’re not promising perfection.
We’re not promising that everything will go according to plan.
And we sure as hell aren’t promising that we won’t find ourselves in some spectacularly ridiculous situations.
What we can promise is that we’ll keep learning, exploring, questioning, adapting, and sharing the journey as it unfolds.
So, buckle up, buttercups!
Actually, scratch that.
Gear up, kickstands up, and let’s see what kind of trouble we can find in all 50 states!
