Ying Yang for Harmony

When people talk of healing they often don’t talk about the darker parts of the healing process. The majority of the self help books I have read often speak of countless positive affirmations, practices, etc. Convincing yourself essentially in various techniques of how grandiosely bright your day is and how you should be living every day in gratitude. They don't prepare you for the countless dark and dreary days of the soul that need to be worked through. Nor do they offer many tools to actually get through the day. You eventually become frustrated with this technique, then the next so on and so forth. All the effort and time you have put in seems wasted.

Yet, you keep buying their books. Hoping the next guru has the secret recipe to your twisted soul. Some, I believe like myself, (I can’t be alone in this) eventually find after decades of reading, and re-reading, and hundreds spent on all these books, you start to learn more about the writers. Some give you just enough to reel you in to buy their next 3 books; all part of an elaborate scheme to get you to spend more money. They set out with the right intentions then failed the soul test by selling their soul for the dollar, you can literally feel the shift of energy in their words from their earlier publications to what they progressed in, feeling the decline in authenticity, loss of convictions, etc. shrugs just the way of things. Then you come across the other authors that you find have dedicated their entire lives to the studies, stand in their integrity, beliefs, authenticity, convictions, and want nothing more than to help others. Still saying, still standing in their words from their earlier work. Some even just write a couple books then leave it be, and move on to doing the physical soul tasks to integrate those teachings. These seem to be far and few between, but in the grand scheme of things there are many.

In my experience, and you are welcome to take it or leave it, I mean that with love truly, because I have learned if it does not resonate it’s not for you. I wouldn’t even waste your time if it does not. In trying to explain this to a few people, I have found that the majority don’t even know what the word means in the sense of how does one know if it resonates. I feel that this is part of the challenge for most when it comes to walking forward with their healing journey. Something is a lot easier to teach if one can see the other's body language. The visuals seem to help people understand the sensations that happen in one’s body when explained in person. This also ties in to the fact that not many people are actually in tune with their own bodies, nor know its language when it tries to speak to them. This I believe to be very vital to the healing process. This is something I have noticed that is skipped in the majority of these books, from all cultures.

Most assume because you are already drawn to the path of healing that the majority have figured it out. On the other hand, most who I have helped with guidance had many questions about what they were feeling and how to navigate those feelings. Especially when it comes to the dark side of things, that seems to often get left out of that narrative. The whispers of the “light workers” that sell toxic positivity, all is rainbows and butterflies, techniques. Not that it doesn’t serve a purpose, but you cannot have one without the other. Ying yang, you need both to coexist.

Shadow work is a huge part of the healing path, and there are so many who skip this part because it’s the hardest part. Facing one’s own metaphorical demons. If you don’t do the work and sit with your demons they will rear their ugly lil face, and you will fall back into the old patterns over and over and over again. Life will repeat the lessons over and over, harder and harder until you get the hint, and learn instead of repeating your mistake. You can easily take time to reflect and see the patterns in your own life. You just take the time to sit with what comes up. Approach everything with understanding and love for oneself. Know you are human and mistakes are gifts to be learned from. Not to learn from them is disrespect to our very creators. Much Love.
