Drinking Water?

My drink of choice the last 40 years or so has been Diet Coke. About 6 bottles a day. Last fall when I was going through a pain and narcotic crisis, Chick actually convinced me to start drinking water. Medical professionals, family and friends have been telling me for years that I shouldn’t drink so much Diet Coke. I knew it wasn’t good for me, but I love my Diet Coke. I started alternating a Diet Coke with a bottle of water and over time I reach the point that I’m only drinking 2 diet cokes a day and 4 bottles of water. It didn’t come easy, and Alice and I had several “discussions” during the process, as I don’t take advice easily when it comes to something I don’t want to do. Alice even bought me a t-shirt that says “I love water”, just to get a reaction out of me. It did’t take long, though, before my body started enjoying the water and I could tell the difference in my skin and other body functions.

But, water is so boring. I have chronic dry mouth and the flavor and bubbles feel better in my mouth and cut the bad taste. Water, not so much. So, I’ve been exploring alternatives.

Alice and I stopped at Caribou occasionally for her coffee and a Sausage/Egg/Cheese biscuit I absolutely love. One day I tried been their Peach/Mango energy drink with carbonated water. It’s the bomb! So, I got to to thinking what if I could figure out how to make this at home without the caffeine. Someone told me I could get a machine at Walmart that carbonates water.

Today I picked one up and lo and behold, they had peach and mango flavoring to use with the unit. I hope it works. I haven’t tried it yet, my broken foot is getting in the way of doing things. But, when I do, I’ll let you know how it goes.
