Child of the 60s

Just for fun the other day I decided to try ChatGPT.  I had the option of trying a conversation where ChatGPT would ask a few questions and prepare a brief paragraph that would describe me.

It sounded intriguing and I wondered what it would come up for me.  So I decided to give it a shot.  Here’s how the conversation went generally and what it came up with.

ChatGPT:  What is your favorite hobby?

Chick:  Motorcycling

ChatGPT:  Do you like to ride by yourself in peace or do you prefer riding with friends for the camaraderie?

Chick:  Any time I’m riding brings me the peace deep into my soul.  When I ride with others, I enjoy the camaraderie with riding friends and being part of a pack contains its own kind of thrill.  When I ride alone, I ride my ride.  Then I experience not only the deep peace in my soul, but the freedom and thrill of pushing the corners as hard and fast as possible.

ChatGPT:  I understand the freedom and thrill of the ride for you.

Tell me about something else you enjoy.

Chick:  Music

ChatGPT:  What genre of music do you prefer to listen to?

Chick: Rock, mostly classic rock, early pop, Classic country.  Not too much of current music.

ChatGPT:  Ok.  Classic rock and the golden era of country.

Chick:  What does the golden era of country refer to?  I grew up on classic country, turned to rock in the 60s and 70s and country again in the 80s.

ChatGPT:  Typically the 50s and 60s, although often includes the 80s and 90s.

Chick:  Ok. I get it

ChatGPT: Here is a paragraph for you:

Child of the ’60s with country roots, rock in the veins, and the open road in the heart. A rider who finds peace in the hum of the engine, thrill in freedom’s wind, and a soul forever tuned to classic rock riffs and the tunes of country’s golden eras. ✨

Although this isn’t exactly how I would have phrased it, it did capture the gist of the information I fed it.  Given the same information my version would probably look something like this:

Child of the ’60s with country roots who found her soul in rock and roll and the freedom of the open road.  Born to rock and born to ride forever free.  The vibration of the engine coursing through my veins, the thrill I find riding the open road, and the music of my youth flowing in my mind comes together in my soul as I ride.

So what was this all about?  Pretty much an experiment in ChatGPT.  I wanted to see how close it would come to knowing who I was.  I’ve seen the effects of AI all over the digital world and quite frankly the possibilities are a bit scary.  I was curious to see how it would do based on limited feedback.

So, the results of my experiment?  It works quite well in discerning what important information it’s being fed and able to feed back quite accurately.  I will say that the language of ChatGPT is a bit more flowery than my language, as I tend to be a bit more direct and less descriptive and quite frankly, prefer it that way.  Not saying either is better than the other, just different. And, I do see the value of both depending on the situation and the audience.

It did give me the opportunity to explore a little deeper about what fulfills my soul. So from that perspective, it was a good exercise to give words to what I know to be true for myself.

So, I’m not endorsing anything here, just sharing my experience with you.  You make your own choices about what tools you use for what and I will do the same.
