Opposition

This was written 03/24/24 as part of a previous project -Editor

It’s hard choosing what road to take when you come to that moment in life that no longer offers multiple paths, but only two. The Fork, or what I’ve been dreaming of as a giant V. Yes, dreaming of the letter V. You know what both paths mean, what it entails, where each path leads. You’ve seen both sides of the coin, seen both paths laid out before you. In making your decision you have others doing all they can to help you figure out which path. You see, hear and feel things that are opposed to each choice. So, you sit back, kicking your feet up and thinking for a moment. It’s obvious. It doesn’t matter what anyone says, it doesn’t matter what “sign” you see, some are tests, some our encouragement. You decide which is which. You’ve already dipped your toes in on both paths, both are going to be uncomfortable, both painful, both full of turbulence and storms, but you can see yourself ahead in both directions. Both selves are opposing the other. Both paths oppose each other, both have their sacrifices, both have people you will love and lose along the way. Both have ones you will gain. Then that moment hits. Fuck the details. Fuck who will or won’t be there.  Make a choice so they can choose. Free will, we all have the right, no one can take that away. But, cause and effect. Make the choice so they, whoever they are, can make theirs. So, look long and hard at each of yourselves at the end of each path. And choose the YOU you want to be for YOU. Let go of everything else, the whos, the whens, the wheres, the hows, and step forward. The letting go is the vital part because whatever you don’t let go of are the chains that will bind you, that trip you, but remember sometimes you’ll be tripped in order to remember that there is a chain there. You can get so used to carrying some weights that you don’t know you were carrying the weight until you are tripped. Then acknowledge the chain and let it go, with love and gratitude. Get up, dust off, and keep going.

Remember there is opposition in everything. You cannot have one without the other. Life demonstrates this on every level. Positive vs negative, good vs evil, sun vs moon, dark vs light etc. This list could go on for days. Yin yang is my favorite symbol for this because the symbol as a whole means Harmony in one, Circle represents unity and wholeness, the color representation of dark vs light clearly states that both are needed to accomplish Harmony. A motor can’t run without a positive and negative. You need one to push the other. This pattern is everywhere. My point is no matter the path you choose, don’t worry about the negatives and the positives, you need all/both because sometimes you need to be pushed, in order to push, so on and so forth. Just make the decision from the heart and soul (your battery) and move forward. But understand in that decision you choose how YOUR motor runs. There are no mistakes as long as you learn from them.
