The Days

There is so much going on in life at any given time. Jobs, family, friends, challenges, plans, last minute changes. It all stacks up. What do I focus on, where do I put my energy. It’s often overwhelming to a point that you can’t handle all of it. It’s always working in the back ground whether you like it or not. Wanting a break is not a bad thing, everyone needs a break.
Recently I saw something that said there are three different types of days. Build days, demo days, and rest days. Build days are the days you create. Whether it be physical, mental, or emotional. You build those days, the days you have energy, high vibrations, the desire to do everything there is to take care of. You move through the day getting some what needs to get done with tasks on all levels. You do what’s needed and you rewire where you need to.
Demo days are just the opposite. These are the days you sit and get rid of what isn't needed. You figured out what parts of your life and thinking need to change, be removed, be tossed out to make room for new builds. You get torn down to bare studs in ways, getting ready for a remodel. Most of us always have a room in our heads like that as we move through. Tearing down one room to build later and moving on to the next. These are not bad days, just days of cleaning out the old and unneeded to make room for growth. Like tilling last years garden plants into the soil. Not to kill them but to use them to help grow the next years crop.
Then there are rest days. These are important, and in my mind the hardest. These are the days where you don’t do anything. You just rest. Many find these the hardest because you feel stuck, lazy, unproductive. It’s hard in the fast paced world to just feel ok with resting. Your mind always going, wanting to tackle the next hurdle, not feeling like you are getting done what’s needed. But without rest you will burn out, you won’t be able to demo or build. That’s why it’s important to rest. Without it you cannot maintain and do what you need to.
Life can throw everything at you at once. It’s a lot. The ups and downs are ok. The build days, demo days, and important rest days are going to come and go, and never in order, but in the order you need them to be. Keep working at it and keep doing what you need to do, and you will get where you need to go.
